JACK FITZGERALD RECOGNIZED AS THE “CATHOLIC BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR” BY THE CATHOLIC BUSINESS NETWORK

Attributes Success to the FitzWay Philosophy

ROCKVILLE, MD – OCTOBER 15, 2015Fitzgerald Auto Malls is pleased to announce that CEO and Founder Jack Fitzgerald will be recognized as the Catholic Business Person of the Year. Mr. Fitzgerald will be honored at the annual Catholic Business Network Gala on November 20, 2015.

Fifty years ago, Jack Fitzgerald started his business with a one-car showroom in Bethesda, MD. Today, Fitzgerald Auto Malls has 15 locations and 35 franchises providing jobs for more than 1,400 employees. His success can be attributed to his philosophy of doing business the FitzWay.  “I listened to my customers comments and incorporated the best way to do business in every aspect of the business; it defines the philosophy that differentiates us from other auto dealers,” explains Mr. Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald dealerships offer the customer-oriented, transparent “No Hassle, No Haggle” way of purchasing new or used vehicles.  The ISO 9001 Certification earned by Fitzgerald Auto Malls is the highest recognition available for quality with a focus on the customer. In fact, Fitzgerald Auto Malls only dealership group in North America with ISO certification.

The FitzWay philosophy also encompasses programs to help impact the communities.  For over 15 years, the Fitzgerald Child Safety Seat program offers free installation and inspection of seats. It is the largest local volunteer program in the US and works with the National Safe Kids Foundation and the Montgomery County Safe Kids Coalition.  A benchmark of over 47,000 seats was reached last month.  Fitzgerald employees contribute to this success, volunteering their time and effort.

Protecting the environment is a FitzWay philosophy, too. Last year, Fitzgerald Auto Malls recycled 81 percent of solid waste generated at the dealerships, which is more than twice the national average for businesses. It is the first automotive dealership group in North America to become ISO 14001 certified, theglobal standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and considered the highest recognition available for quality management with a focus on the environment.  All energy at Fitzgerald facilities is purchased from Green renewable energy sources, with 100 percent wind power used at all of the dealerships in Maryland.  Fitzgerald’s environmental team works to evaluate the company’s environmental policy, objectives and ongoing progress on a regular basis, and proving it is entirely possible to run an organization that is both successful and eco-friendly.

“Good people like to do good things, and the good people at Fitzgerald Auto Malls live by the FitzWay philosophy, treating all associates and customers the way they would want to be treated…with honesty, respect, and dignity,” states Mr. Fitzgerald.
